Three students, of the class (year) of 1965, arranged to meet after almost 25 years and during that conversation reminisced about those days. There was one other there that day and he too was from the same year. The four were: John Mobbs, Jeffrey Moran, Graham Clarke and David Dalton.
The school has changed but the students have not. Even after 25 years I (Graham) could pick each of the guys out of a crowd without any trouble. We had all spent some time together after graduation so a strong friendship had been forged even then.
Remember our last day, they call it "muck-up day" now. Remember we wrapped the Admin block up in toilet paper. Remember the school assembly that day? The cadet band marching out to raise the school flag. . . remember the fool at the right-rear of the band in the leather jacket and motor bike helmet playing the trumpet? Yep, that was me, Trumpet Sargeant Graham Clarke! John Mobbs was the Drum-Major (in front). Sorry John, C.U.O. Drum-Major (salutes) but Trumpet Sargeant Jeff Moran was not there. Ah, you remember us now!
That was the only day you ever saw "The Sainty Gazette". John and I had spent days trying to get the damn Gestetner to work. We eventually got it done but what a printing job that turned out to be. Neither of us had ever tried anything like that before. Or ever again for that matter.
David was there that day but he wasn't in the band so I'll have to let him tell you what happened to him. Jeff had been extracted from school earlier that year by his parents and set to work so that is why he was not there. . . well, not physically, I was wearing his leather jacket and helmet. In fact, I had ridden his motor cycle to school that day. So he was kinda there.
This page is going to be a "work in progress" so, since you have read this far you are probably one of the kids there that day. And since you're on the internet let us know who and where you are:
